Modernization of the Haliotis 2 wastewater treatment plant: Watch a time-lapse video of the major stages of the project in 2025.
23 April 2026A year of construction condensed into 220 seconds.
Watch the 2025 time-lapse video of Haliotis 2, the modernization project for the Nice Côte d’Azur Metropolitan Area’s wastewater treatment plant, and relive the highlights of this pivotal year, from civil engineering work to the initial installation of equipment.
- About 100 companies involved,
- Nearly 300 people working on-site,
- 258 040 hours of construction work,
- 38 000 hours of work-integration contracts completed since the project began.
This time-lapse video highlights:
- Preparation, earthwork, and the emergence of the first structures: the pumping station, the REUT building, the electrical room, and the sludge treatment building.
- Work to reinforce the levee.
- The delivery and installation of the first pieces of equipment for the pumping station.
- The demolition of the old administrative building and half of the clarifiers.
- Site logistics: installation of cranes, optimization of traffic flow, and reduction of potential construction-related disturbances.
- Environmental protection: enhanced monitoring of environmental impacts, waste management, and on-site recycling of demolition and earthwork materials to minimize the consumption of natural resources and GHG emissions.
- Safety: a specific plan to ensure that construction work can proceed alongside the continued operation of existing facilities.
And in 2026?
- Commissioning in the fall of the first Haliotis2 facility: the discharge station for treated water into the sea.
- Work will continue on the water and reclaimed water treatment lines, as well as the sludge treatment line.
See you in early 2027 for another visual update on the progress of the Haliotis2 project
As a reminder, Haliotis2 is the renovation and modernization project for the Nice Côte d’Azur Metropolitan Area’s wastewater treatment plant, led by its Régie Eau d’Azur in partnership with Cabinet Merlin as Project Management Consultant, and managed and operated by SUEZ in partnership with Vinci Triverio, Razel Bec, Fayat Energie Services, Groupe-6, Artelia, and WSP.
Haliotis 2 enables the modernization of the existing site through new high-tech facilities, thereby better protecting the Mediterranean.
The new treatment processes implemented at the wastewater treatment plant and their scalable design will allow us to anticipate and meet the strictest regulatory water quality requirements.
