Métropole Nice Côte d’Azur
The Nice Côte d’Azur metropolis is a French inter-municipal structure, located in the Alpes-Maritimes department and Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region, around the city of Nice. Its head office is in Nice, and its president is Christian Estrosi. The Métropole Nice Côte d’Azur, France’s leading metropolis, comprises 49 communes and 540,000 inhabitants, a dynamic and attractive territory. The METROPOLE NICE COTE D’AZUR is now one of the main players in public action in the region, working in close partnership with each of its member municipalities. It has an annual budget of around 1.6 billion euros and employs over 4,500 people.
La Régie Eau d'Azur
Régie Eau d’Azur, created in 2013 as a financially autonomous EPIC (Etablissement Public Industriel et Commercial), manages drinking water within the Nice Côte d’Azur metropolitan area.
It is the successor to more than 150 years of concession contracts for public water services in Nice.
Today, it provides the public drinking water service in the 51 communes of the metropolitan area, from the coast to the peaks of the Mercantour. It also supplies treated water to a number of communes in the east of the department, as well as to the Principality of Monaco.
The Régie Eau d’Azur was built up in several stages, as the various public service delegations came to an end, integrating the communes as they went along, from 2014 to 2020.
Water conveyance, treatment, production and distribution are among the various tasks carried out by Régie Eau d’Azur.
The expertise available to the Régie enables it to maintain its facilities, and to plan large-scale works to secure drinking water resources in its sector.
Cabinet Merlin: Project Owner's Assistant

The SUEZ-led consortium
The consortium led by DEGREMONT France, a subsidiary of the SUEZ group, was chosen as designer-builder-operator under a Global Performance Contract (GPC).

A subsidiary of SUEZ, Degrémont has been the world specialist in water treatment for over 70 years. Degrémont designs, builds and operates facilities for local authorities and industry.
SUEZ Service France: Operations
For over 160 years, SUEZ has been providing essential services to protect and improve quality of life in the face of growing environmental challenges. SUEZ enables its customers to provide access to water and waste services, through solutions on tonnes of CO2. In 2021, SUEZ achieved sales of €7.5 billion.innovative and resilient.
