Haliotis2: the project presents itself at the Salon des communes et des intercommunalités des Alpes Maritimes
18 November 2024
At the Salon des Communes et des Intercommunalités des Alpes Maritimes held in Cannes on Thursday, October 10, the renovation and modernization project for the Nice Côte d’Azur metropolitan area’s wastewater treatment plant was presented to visitors. This was an opportunity to showcase the project and present the solutions proposed by this major project to preserve resources.
As a reminder, Haliotis2 will be a veritable resource plant serving the region. In addition to offering state-of-the-art purification performance, with a 90% reduction in the microplastics present in treated wastewater, the plant will also produce biomethane, and the heat recovered from treated water will be used to supply the heating network for the Grand Arénas district and the airport, while the sludge from wastewater treatment will be used to supply the Ariane waste-to-energy plant. A reused treated wastewater (REUT) production unit with an annual production capacity of 5 million cubic meters will replace the city of Nice’s raw water requirements for watering green spaces and cleaning roads.
