Visit by the French Minister for Ecological Transition to the Nice wastewater treatment plant: Focus on the REUT Pilot and Haliotis 2
On September 08, 2023, Mr. Christophe Béchu, Minister of Ecological Transition and Territorial Cohesion, paid a ministerial visit to the Nice wastewater treatment plant, highlighting the REUT and Haliotis 2 pilot as part of the Côte d’Azur Metropolis.
The visit follows the ministerial decree issued on August 29, 2023 by Prime Minister Elisabeth Borne, at the suggestion of Minister Christophe Béchu.
During the visit, the Minister had the opportunity to discover the pilot unit deployed in July, thanks to a derogation agreement obtained in June 2023 by Mr. Christian Estrosi. This unit uses treated water reused for watering green spaces at the Haliotis wastewater treatment plant. In addition, the Minister was able to observe the heat recovery unit currently under construction on the site, which will be operated by Dalkia.
This reflects the government’s commitment to ecological transition and innovation in water resource management. The Minister’s visit underlines the importance of local initiatives, such as those implemented by the Côte d’Azur metropolis, in promoting sustainable practices and creating innovative solutions for the future.
